Turn CSI Standards into a Live, Always Current

Project Backbone

CSI Dynamic Standards™ keeps MasterFormat®, UniFormat®, and OmniClass® current and edition-aligned—so models, drawings, specs, bids, and handover move in lockstep, with fewer RFIs and less rework.

Trusted by the organizationsshaping the built environment

Specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors, owners, facility managers—and the software they use—rely on us every day.

ALWAYS CURRENT. ALWAYS AUTHORITATIVE —

The Next Era of MasterFormat®, UniFormat®, and OmniClass®

CSI Dynamic Standards turns the three formats from static books into a live, connected system. In the Navigator interface, you can search, move from high-level elements to detailed sections, and cross-reference UniFormat to MasterFormat to OmniClass while keeping titles current and changes visible. Updates are approved and published by the Construction Specifications Institute; enterprise integrations are available to carry them into your tools—so specs, models, bids, and handover stay aligned.

Construction site

MasterFormat®

The live backbone for specs and work results—consensus-based numbers and titles kept current, cross-linked to UniFormat and OmniClass, and ready for pre-issue checks via integrations through enterprise solutions so mislabels and rework don't cascade.

UniFormat®

Early-phase structure for elements, systems, and assemblies that carries design intent and budgets forward; governed crosswalks reveal the right MasterFormat sections as projects move from SD to DD to CD—without manual remapping.

OmniClass®

Lifecycle classification you can compute on—tag models, submittals, and assets so closeout is owner-ready and FM systems ingest data cleanly, keeping design, construction, and operations aligned.

INDUSTRIES

License Requirements

Specifiers

If you author, maintain, or use specifications, templates, models, or schedules that include CSI numbers, titles, or classifications—inside your firm or in client deliverables—your organization needs a license for CSI Dynamic Standards. This applies to independent specification writers and in-house specifiers at AECO firms.

Use CSI Dynamic Standards if you/your team:

  • Write project manuals or outline specs using MasterFormat® numbers and titles

  • Maintain and issue office master sections/templates that embed MasterFormat® numbers and titles on client work

  • Produce section schedules/TOCs, keynote tables, or submittal logs that reference MasterFormat® sections and share them with project partners

  • Map early-phase UniFormat® elements to MasterFormat® sections and distribute those mappings externally

  • Deliver BIM data or exports tagged to OmniClass®/UniFormat® for coordination, bidding, or owner handover

The Authorized Licensing Authority for MasterFormat®, UniFormat®, and OmniClass®

MasterFormat®, UniFormat®, and OmniClass®

Designated by CSI as its Standards licensor, The Construction Standard turns the industry's essential classifications from static references into living infrastructure teams can design in, price in, build in, and operate in. CSI stewards and governs the standards; The Construction Standard licenses and delivers them in practical, project-ready ways that remove friction for AECO teams.

Our mission is simple and transformational: ensure every handoff—from concept to closeout—carries the same consistent meaning, so projects move faster with fewer RFIs, cleaner bids, and steadier schedules. MasterFormat®, UniFormat®, and OmniClass® remain independent CSI standards; CSI Dynamic Standards delivers the authorized, approved releases. In short, we don't just reference standards—we make them usable at the speed of your work.

A Simple Rule
of Thumb

When Using CSI Classifications Requires a License

If you use MasterFormat®, UniFormat®, or OmniClass® in deliverables, templates, content libraries, products, or platforms—and others rely on those numbers, titles, or classifications to organize, navigate, compare, or exchange information—CSI Standards licensing is necessary. CSI Dynamic Standards gives you authorized, version-aware access so teams stay aligned without edition ambiguity.

Why Now?

Construction productivity hasn't changed in decades while demand, complexity, and risk have all climbed. Industry leaders call for digitized, interoperable workflows that reduce rework, connect disciplines, and keep everyone working from the same, consensus-based source of truth. We exist to deliver exactly that: CSI Dynamic Standards are continuously updated standards, delivered in forms that keep editions clear, changes visible, and handoffs aligned across the lifecycle.

Our Answer

Standards
are leverage.

You can't industrialize construction or scale AI without consistent, computable categories every team shares. That's the work: reducing transaction costs across thousands of handoffs. Modern delivery is multidisciplinary—owner outcomes depend on design, trade, and operations data lining up.

License & legitimize.

As the Construction Specification Institute's designated licensor for MasterFormat®, UniFormat™, and OmniClass®, we ensure your teams and products work with authorized, edition-true numbers, titles, and classifications—delivered in practical, project-ready ways. (CSI stewards and governs the standards; we license and deliver them.)

Deliver for real
workflows.

Through CSI Dynamic Standards, we provide standards in human-readable and system-readable forms so numbers, titles, classifications and intent stay consistent from concept through facility operations—inside the tools you already use.

Keep editions clear.

Teams always know which edition applies, what changed, and where those changes matter—protecting decisions, bids, and schedules.

Bridge the ecosystem.

Designers, specifiers, engineers, contractors, owners/FM, and software platforms all work from the same consensus-based numbers, titles, and classifications—cutting friction and rework across the value chain.
