About The

Construction Standard

The Construction Standard is CSI's authorized licensor for MasterFormat, UniFormat and OmniClass classification standards—and the team building CSI Dynamic Standards, the new delivery system that turns these classifications into living, interoperable infrastructure for the entire AECO ecosystem. For decades, these classification systems have organized how projects are scoped, specified, priced, built, and handed over. Our focus is modern delivery: making the standards easier to access, easier to keep current, and easier to apply across real workflows—without version ambiguity or manual workarounds.

We operate in close partnership with CSI, the creator, steward and governor of the standards. While CSI will continue to update and maintain the integrity of the MasterFormat, UniFormat and OmniClass classification standards, The Construction Standard focuses on licensing, distribution, and building modern access and tooling in collaboration with architects, engineers, owners, contractors, and software platforms across AECO. We began as Construction Information Network, LLC (CIN) in January 2020 in Alexandria, VA, and in July 2025 began operating publicly as The Construction Standard with a team across North America and Europe.

Our Vision

A built world that moves faster, safer, and with less waste—because every handoff uses the same controlled vocabulary from concept to operations.

Our Mission

Give every project the same taxonomy and the tools to use it. We do this by (1) licensing CSI standards for commercial use, (2) delivering them as living, interoperable data for real workflows, (3) keeping editions and changes unambiguous, and (4) connecting the entire AECO ecosystem through neutral, practical products—starting with CSI Dynamic Standards and expanding with MasterProduct, the next generation building product catalog linking 12M+ construction products (with 2,700+ rationalized attributes) to the standards you specify and manage every day.

Our Values

Stewardship with CSI

We honor CSI standards and consensus governance by keeping licensing clean, usage clear, and editions transparent.

Neutrality by design

We don't sell outcomes; we standardize the rules so teams can trust the data.

Practical above all

If it doesn't save time, reduce risk, or improve outcomes, it ships later.

Interoperability first

Human-deployed and system-readable, plug-and-play with the tools you already use.

Proof over promises

Less rework, fewer RFIs, cleaner bids, steadier schedules—gains you can measure.

Security & respect

Your data, your policies. Enterprise-grade controls, always.
