## Platform overview

CSI Dynamic Standards brings supported CSI standards and editions into one connected workspace.

Each classification includes information that helps you understand where it belongs and how it relates to other classifications. Depending on the classification, you can explore broader or more specific classifications, related classifications in other standards, and changes between editions.

## Classification systems

### MasterFormat

Organizes information around construction work results, requirements, and specification-related subjects.

### UniFormat

Organizes information around functional building elements and systems.

### OmniClass

Provides tables for classifying different kinds of built-environment information.

## Search

Choose a standard and edition, then search by classification number, title, or keyword. Open a result and confirm its standard and edition. See [Search the standards](/docs/searching) for search options, examples, and record browsing.

## Browse classifications

Start with a broad classification and move to more specific classifications beneath it. Read [Browse classifications](/docs/navigating-hierarchy), or use [Division Hierarchies](/docs/division-hierarchies) to explore an expandable tree.

## Connect related classifications

Crosswalks are links between standards and related classifications. Use them to move between related classifications in MasterFormat, UniFormat, and OmniClass.

## Update to a newer edition

Transitions support upgrades between editions. Use them to see how a MasterFormat 2020 classification relates to its available classification or classifications in MasterFormat 2026.

## Clipboard

Add individual records to the platform clipboard, attach working notes, and copy the collection. See the [Clipboard guide](/docs/clipboard).

## Platform tools

Focused workflows for hierarchy browsing and project-document review.

- [Division Hierarchies](/docs/division-hierarchies) — Browse classification records as an expandable tree.

- [Document Transition Assistant](/docs/document-transition-assistant) — Review MF 2020 references and available MF 2026 transitions in a PDF.

- [Classification Verification](/docs/classification-verification) — Check classification-like text against an expected edition.

## Recommended workflow

1. Select the standard and edition that match your task.

2. Search by classification number, title, or keyword.

3. Open a result and confirm its standard and edition.

4. Review its explanation and place in the hierarchy.

5. Use crosswalks to follow related classifications into another standard.
